Repayment Rate
Do vouched friends repay? Our whole thesis says trust-selected borrowers outperform — we'll publish the rate, good or bad.
South Africa runs on informal earning — wages paid in cash, piece jobs, side hustles, work that never shows up on a payslip. The people doing that work are not high-risk borrowers; they are invisible borrowers. The credit system has simply never met them. But someone has: a friend who lends them money before payday and gets paid back, month after month. That friend already knows what no credit bureau does. Quick Cash Buddy is being built to put that knowledge to work — the friend with a credit record vouches, the invisible earner borrows in their own name, and every repayment is reported to the bureaus until the system can finally see them too.
The Buddy Network
Every buddy is a doorway. One credit-active person can bring the people they already trust — and already lend to — into the formal credit system, one vouched friend at a time.
The Mechanism
Credit-active, bankable, known to the bureaus. They register, pass a credit check, and nominate a friend they already trust with their own money.
The friend gets a direct, private link. They confirm it's really them, provide their own ID and income details, and accept the loan terms in plain language — POPIA-compliant, nothing done on their behalf.
Issued in the friend's name after an affordability check on their real wages, within NCR interest and fee caps. The buddy signs surety and a debit mandate — their account stands behind the loan.
Repayments are reported to the credit bureaus. The friend's score rises, the buddy earns a share of the profit, and a person the system couldn't see becomes someone it can — and the next potential buddy.
A buddy nominates the friend they've been informally lending to for years. (An illustration of the planned journey — we are pre-launch.)
The friend verifies their identity and consents directly. The loan agreement is theirs; the surety is the buddy's. Both know exactly what they've signed, in rands.
Wages come in, repayments go out on time — the same rhythm the friendship always had, now visible to the credit bureaus and building a real score.
With a record of their own, the friend can access formal credit directly — and stake their new score for the next invisible earner in their circle.
Honest Numbers
We haven't launched, so we won't decorate this page with made-up statistics. These are the numbers we commit to publishing openly once real loans are moving, because they're the numbers that prove the model works:
Do vouched friends repay? Our whole thesis says trust-selected borrowers outperform — we'll publish the rate, good or bad.
How many previously credit-invisible people now have an active bureau file and a rising score because of the buddy system.
The compounding loop: how many friends built a score and then staked it for someone else. This is the number that matters most.
What buddies actually earned — and how often they were debited for a default. Vouching is a real risk and we'll report it honestly.
